COFFEE TALK

There are two species of coffee plants in the world. These species are commonly known as Robusta and Arabica. Arabica beans are used to produce gourmet coffees.

Robusta beans are used primarily by commercial an institutional roasters. This coffee plant grows at lower altitudes, is more disease resistant, and can be brought to market more inexpensively. Robusta coffees have a higher caffeine percentage than the Arabica coffee beans.

Arabica coffees mature much slower, are picked three to four times during the season, rather than mass-picked as is common with robusta beans.

The result of this extra care, and a better bean, are coffees with better aroma and taste that you can enjoy at Blackwater Coffee & Tea Co.
